Welcome to the
online home of the Sheda Science and Technology Complex (SHESTCO), a
multidisciplinary research and development establishment situated in
the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, 70 km from the capital city
of Abuja. SHESTCO enables institutions as well as individual scientists
to undertake a wide range of research and development activities. The
multidisciplinary nature of the activities undertaken creates a truly
conducive scientific environment,
which in turn enhances collaboration,
giving rise to unique approaches to the solution of research and
developmental problems.
Within the
complex are three National Advanced Laboratories in the fields of
biotechnology, chemistry and physics, equipped with state-of-the-art
facilities. There is also a Nuclear Technology Centre, which houses a
gamma irradiation plant. In a drive aimed at spearheading
public-private sector partnership as the key to scientific as well as
economic growth and development,
SHESTCO currently houses and
collaborates with the Nigerian branch of the American-based company,
Xechem Pharmaceuticals.
SHESTCO
aims to become Nigeria's premier research and development institute.
Towards achieving this goal, it has put in place adequate research
facilities and continues to attract scientists and technologists from
other national research and development institutions, universities,
polytechnics and industry. It also warmly welcomes international
scientists and technologists.
